Isle of Death: Experiments in NO-Futurism
[2020 - 2023]
Originally published by ArtpunkINTL in November, 2023, this collage series documents my fascination with the self-styled genre of NO-Futurism, a cynical rebuttal to Futurism in the way No-Wave was a response to New Wave. The original blurb reads as follows:
"NO-Futurism is an attempt to capture the overwhelming technicolor hell of the present day. It is angry and despairing all at once. It is jagged and harsh on the senses. It worries violently about the ultimate fate of the human race. It makes a mess of everything. It breaks down in the corner of the room, hyperventilating. It is chaotic, claustrophobic, brutal, scrappy, junkish, vibrant, burnt-out, bleak, cheap, electronic, eclectic, esoteric, and, above all else, utterly doomed.”
